• Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)

Experience:

• At least 5 to 8 years’ experience in community-based mental health work. At least to 5 to 8 years of experience providing therapy to people with severe mental health conditions.
• Experience in program management (desirable).
• Sound understanding of therapy and ethical practices.

Jobs Responsibilities:

• Provide weekly individual and group supervision to the community counselors for their technical skill development and ethical practice.
• Provide routine training on basic counseling and screening approaches to existing and new community counselors. Develop capacity-building modules, translate or adapt training materials based on contextual needs. Troubleshoot any field challenges with the program manager.
• Maintain a monitoring and supervision spreadsheet tracking the competencies of each community counselor under their management; maintain the supervision data and notes systematically in google sheets.
• Conduct screening and counseling for clients referred with high severity of mental health issues.
• Make field visits to conduct scoping or needs assessment of mental health needs and liaise with management to mitigate challenges; monitor in-person or phone-based screening and counseling.
• Coordinate with the research associates in the team to monitor and evaluate targets for screening and counseling numbers.
• Identify and help resolve issues in the implementation of screening and counseling and correct collection of documentation and Fortnightly reporting to the Program Lead on updates related to capacity-building, challenges with implementation and supervision of community counselors.
